Cat Paw Pendant - Jasper in Black

Description

At least I think it's some variety of jasper; dendritic, or possibly picture. Someone with more rock knowledge than me please confirm/deny?

Goddamn shiny things. 95% of the photos I took were utter garbage. Sun rises after I've left for work, sets before I come home, and even if I were home during daylight hours, it has been pretty solidly overcast for more than a week now. That's Bergen winter for you. Photos were too blurry, too washed out, too dark, had too much flash glare... these four aren't perfect but they're good enough, though I'm now slapping myself over not taking a photo of the back of the pendant too, to show off more of the stone's patterning. It's really quite lovely, but of course doesn't come across as well in the photos as it does in person. I donated this (and all the other pawprint pendants) to the cat shelter where I volunteer; if it hasn't sold by the time I'm on shift again I'll try to get a good photo of the reverse.

Pendant measures about 2.5cm across and 0.5cm thick at the centre. The dangling bead puts it at about 4cm long.

Tools & Materials: Jasper(?) stone, black permanent marker, Dremel, cylindrical and round diamond burrs, plastic cream cheese container full of water, old T-shirt, pumice soap, porcelain paint, dental pick, oven, baking sheet, baking paper, glass bead, jump-ring, head-pin, square- and round-nose pliers, paste flux, soft silver solder, soldering iron, wire necklace hoop.

Aw, this is a lovely one and even comes with a little "bell". :meow:

I see what you mean about the picture quality but those turned out good enough.
I think the one with the white background shows the true colours best; but it might be my imagination only.
That Jasper looks like marble.

I should really visit that shelter in Scandinavia, region of the long and dark winters.
