Stellium

Mmm, black chrome. Another Inventor piece.

This one is slated to be redrawn once I do something about my shot-to-shit motherboard. I've learned a lot of new things in Inventor since I drew this, and I feel that I can make it better. Maybe I'll come up with some not-so-ugly wingtip thrusters. The current ones suck and I want to change them.

While reading a Wikipedia page on fractals, I realized that the centre engine is an Apollonian Gasket. I knew the thing was fractal when I first drew it, (the 2D sketch of the engine assembly is saved as 'FCE', for "Fractal Cloverleaf Engine"), but was unaware that there was a proper term for it.

About the ship: The Stellium class of ship is a very agile craft, both in planetary atmospheres and space. The one pictured here measures just under 79 metres from wingtip to wingtip, though the ships can be anywhere from over three times that size down to less than 5 metres long. Cycling the different thrusters is what makes the ship so manoevrable. This can be done automatically with the steering, or each set can be individually controlled by the pilot.
