Snowflake commissioned by `iggygirl Posted with client's permission.

It is this photo flakified.

Fullview is about actual size.

Time Spent: Around an hour messing with the photo to turn it into something I could cut; an hour transferring it to the blank snowflake; two hours cutting.

It took looking at the original photo to get figure and ground to resolve properly in my mind's eye, but once they did - Man, that's impressive!

Thanks. :) It was one of my more challenging snowflakes from a design standpoint, since I had to figure out how best to reduce a colour photo to a two-colour image while keeping enough details for it to be properly 'shaded'. Turned out just as good as I'd hoped it would.

All I need are decent photos; colour or B&W.

Don't tempt me. If it doesn't look like I'm gonna lose my job you may regret knowing me. there are 5 cats and 2 dogs here, plus a few who've passed on.

Holy smoke!

I thought it was something abstract till I read the comments. Then I couldn't figure out what the photo could possibly be so I went and looked at it and all of a sudden there's a dog(s) in the snowflake!! (I was focusing on the completely wrong part of the flake prior to seeing the photo.) Simply amazing.

I guess orienting it differently might make it easier to pick out, but I like the symmetry.

Oh I think it's great. I just find it interesting how our eyes and brain work together to decipher visuals.

And that is why optical illusions are fun. There's one where, in a bunch of mostly randomly placed splotches, some of them form a Dalmatian. I picked it out immediately, but my brother just could not find it, even when I traced the outline with my fingertip. It's neurologically intriguing too, since humans are hardwired to pick out visual patterns and the differences in perceiving optical illusions offers some insight into how we process images.

Yep. :iconillmatar: looked at it when she came home from work and immediately saw the dog. I was like what?! Usually, we're pretty even in out perception.

Oh wow! After I looked at the photo the dog suddenly appeared in the flake. Awesome job.

It isn't immediately obvious, is it? Well, it is to me, because I made the thing, but it could pass for something abstract too.

At first I thought it was some sort of person standing on a tree limb near a body of water and that is what I though was repeated.
