DragonFlake - Guivre by ChimeraDragonfang DragonFlake - Guivre by ChimeraDragonfang
One would think that with my obsession over dragons and my love of making paper snowflakes I would have make a dragon snowflake quite some time ago, but no. Well, I have finally made one.

EDIT 2011-06-14: Updated it with a better scan showing the side which does not have the pencil lines on it. :dummy: Also adjusted the contrast so the red isn't as painfully bright to look at.

Time spent: Don't remember. Probably my usual two to three hours to sketch and two to three (but possibly four) more hours to cut.

Tools & Materials: [link]

EDIT 2010-08-31: adsdfsædpsdfpæådfpsdæåsødsd:wow:... a DD! :iconexcitedlaplz: Many, many thanks to *rins-art for suggesting it and `MyntKat for the feature. Lovely thing to wake up to.

This is simply the most amazing snowflake design I've ever seen in my life. I grew up loving dragons and this would be amazing to have even all year round. Great job.

Thanks. Dragons have been an obsession of mine since the age of ten (yes, I can pinpoint exactly when the whole mess began) and doesn't look to be stopping any time soon.

The obsession never has to stop. If anything, get more into it. It's healthy to like certain things. I fell in love with gargoyles, not sure when, but I know I was young.

That's awesome. I'd love to get more gargoyles, but I have some issues with being picky and I don't like ones that aren't scary enough.

I know what you mean. I could probably have almost twice as many dragons as I do now (you can see part of my collection <a href-"[link]">here), except there are a lot that just don't appeal to me. Either they look stupid or they're of sub-par construction.

Exactly how I feel with most of the ones I see. Anything that interests me, it usually doesn't pertain to my sense of style or it looks like some handmade piece of junk, which will not be tolerated.

Well, if you go by what other people say about me, I find the patience by being absolutely barking mad. This one I did when I was living alone, unemployed and without Internet. I had a lot of free time.:P

Yeah, I kind of fall under a 'jack of all trades' sort of thing. Gets me in trouble sometimes, because I keep bouncing around between different mediums without completing previous projects first.

I just looked it up on wikipedia - actually, Bat out of Hell I and II were made before Dance of the Vampires, so Back into Hell is the original Carpe Noctem. Then there was the Carpe noctem song in the musical, and then Jim Steinman made a Meat Loaf song again out of the musical songs :lmao: Bat out of Hell III came after the musical ^^

Funny thing - that's exactly where it's coming from :bucktooth:

To be exact, my username is from the famous German musical Dance of the Vampires, but the music is from the same man who writes the Meat Loaf music - Jim Steinman - and it has the exact same melodies ^^
the beginning of Seize the Night is the opening song of the musical, Total eclipse of the heart the love ballad, The middle part of Seize the night + Back into Hell is the song Carpe Noctem, and Pictures in the review mirror may appear closer than they are is the vampire's sad ballad

It's called Tanz der Vampire, actually, and I think you will love the music if you love Meat Loaf's music ^^
Don't look at the american adaption. It's terrible :iconfacepalmplz:

What's your favorite musical? :dummy:

Favourite? Damn, there are so many I love for one reason or another, but I think some of my top faves are Starlight Express, Jekyll & Hyde, Les Misérables, Zombie Prom and Wicked. (If you enjoy the music from Phantom of the Opera, I highly recommend Jekyll & Hyde. It has much of the same sort of spooky undertone to it.)

Yey for late answers! :dummy:

The only one I don't know in this list is Zombie Prom! what's it about? And Jekyll & Hyde will end up on my "have to watch" list now ^^
I also very much like Rent, it's not popular in Germany but an American friend gave me the DVD of the movie, and I think it's awesome! :dummy:

The Wiki article -> [link] Basically a spoof on high school teen romance dramas and '50s stereotypes, where the guy dies and then comes back from the dead as a "teenaged nuclear zombie". I borrowed the soundtrack from the library purely on account of the WTF title and was quickly hooked.
