Description
Entry for the Dinosaur Contest.
EDIT 2011-05-07: Replaced with better photos.
EDIT 2014-10-26: Have now turned them into necklaces, and therefore updated the photos again.
A variety of dinosaur footprints engraved into ornamental glass stones using a Dremel and diamond burrs. Then I coloured the cut-out parts with metallic porcelain paints. Couldn't decide which colour to use, so I just went with everything.
Time Spent: Maybe two hours or so. Addendum: Another six hours for the six-strand braiding. Looks cooler than basic three-strand, but wow does it take a long time. Each braided cord is ~45cm. There is a bit of stretch to them. The chain extenders are 5cm in length. The stones vary between approximately 3cm and 4cm at the longest/widest, and are roughly 0.75cm at the thickest point.
They are all modelled on real dinosaur footprint fossils, but damned if I can remember what they all are.
Tools & Materials: Six black glass stones, paper, printer, utility knife blade, clear tape, silver spray paint, dental pick, small cylindrical and large round engraving burrs, Dremel with flex-shaft, paint thinner, porcelain paint, oven, nylon cord, end caps, Loctite universal hybrid glue, lobster claw clasps, chain, jump-rings, round- flat- and chain-nose pliers.
These are for sale. $30 CAD each, or all of them for $155. (Various discounts apply for different quantities.) Shipping is extra. Will also consider art trades. Note me if interested.

Photographing shiny stuff is a sucky endeavor, but you've captured the colors very nicely.
I thought it was mica powder at first before I read the description. Very nice use of ceramic paint on glass. :3
