Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.

The full three-piece set of crystal: shaker, box, bottle. The
Inventor render is on the left and a photo of the real-life pieces is on the right. (Obviously; Inventor's rendering isn't that good.) I don't know exactly how many hours I spent on these. Well over thirty, probably. Having to do the shaker again after the original file got eaten contributed to that. The neck of the bottle was all kinds of crazy to make (and took a good several hours on its own) and the stopper involved getting very creative with work points and 3D sketches, but it's done now. Frustrations aside, I learned a lot of tricks while making these which will come in useful for my next Inventor project.
Time spent: A lot.
Tools & Materials: Autodesk Inventor 11, a set of calipers, a radius guide and a ruler.
